Teams

  • Each team shall be made up of at least 5 but no more than 8 players. Eight teams will be accepted (receipt of application, waivers and payment) per division on a first-come-first-served basis. All forms must be received by June 1. The Tournament Director will assign starting times to each team. Games begin at 8 am on Saturday and 11 am on Sunday.

Boys/Men Divisions (Age as of June 15, 2008)

  • Age 9-12; Age 13-15; Age 16-18. Age 19+ (Open A & B).
  • Tournament Director will balance the Open Divisions as necessary.

Girls/Women Divisions (June 2008 Grade Level)

  • 5th through 8th Grade Division or High School Division

Rules of Play

  • The format of the tournament will be a (two) game guarantee on Saturday June 14 with 4 teams per division advancing to the Sunday semi-finals. There will be 8 teams per division. All teams will be required to monitor the tournament bracket and arrive at least 30 minutes before game time.
  • Each game shall consist of (two) 15 minute halves. Time will be running time with the exception of the final (one) minute of the game.
  • If the game is tied at the conclusion of the game there will be a sudden death play-off with a jump ball to determine who begins with the ball.
  • While there is no shot clock, teams are not allowed to “run time” without looking to score the ball. If the official determines that a team is “killing the clock,” possession will be awarded to the other team. This is at the sole discretion of the official.
  • Possession will be determined by a jump ball and the official and scorer will alternate possession from there.
  • The court official has final say as to points, fouls and any other questions on play. There will be an official scorer who will advise the official.
  • Each team is allowed a total of 6 fouls per half without penalty. The seventh foul and each foul thereafter will cause that team to lose 1 point and possession. If a player is fouled and makes the shot with continuation, the shot will count and the ball will be awarded back to the team. If that foul is the 7th or more, the loss of point will also occur. No free throws will be awarded until the last (one) minute of the game. At that point all fouls will result in a one and one.
  • Substitutions are unlimited on each stoppage of play by checking in at the scorer's table.
  • Possession will change following each made basket. We are not playing “winners outs.”
  • Unless otherwise noted above - high school rules will govern play. The game official's ruling are final and the Tournament Director will make all final decisions on schedule, brackets, etc.
  • Dunking and hanging on the rim is strictly prohibited.
  • Teams are required to wear consistent colored uniforms. Numbers are not required. Any color is acceptable with the exception of blue.
  • Time will be stopped for any injury (requiring attention) for no more than 1 minute. Time will be restarted after 1 minute in an effort to stay on schedule.
